The Descent series includes mixed-gas decompression dive computer functionality in a premium smartwatch with activity profiles, performance metrics and smart notifications. For those sport and technical divers who like a wrist-watch form factor suitable for everyday wear, the Garmin Descent Mk3series builds on the features of their f?nix® 7 Pro multi-activity GPS smartwatch to include SCUBA diving functionality.
The MK3i model adds support for their SubWave™ sonar data network which can share real time data — such as remaining dive time, gas consumption rate and more — while underwater during the dive for you and other MK3i divers within a range of {33 feet ! 10 meters}. The MK3i supports cylinder gas pressure integration, sometimes called air integration (AI), with up to eight (8) separately purchased optional Descent Tank Pod wireless T2 transceivers. New for the Mk3i model, you can also communicate via pre-formatted messages with other T2 networked buddies wearing their Descent™ Mk3i dive computers.
Once underwater, the Bühlmann ZHL-16C decompression algorithm with user configurable Gradient Factors allows individual control of your dive computer decompression calculations and stop depths. Full color graphics plus tone and vibration alerts help keep you informed while you’re submerged. During a decompression dive, the Descent can provide time-to-surface based on "look ahead" at planned gas switches along with current ceiling and stop time. Multiple gas definition presets are supported with any combination of air, nitrox, trimix and oxygen. For technical dives, the Descent is user configurable to NOT "lockout" after a missed stop. Even underwater (if worn next to the skin), the Descent is able to measure and display your actual heartbeat rate.
On land, the Descent also functions as a robust training and outdoor companion. It has profiles for running, cycling, swimming, as well as indoor workouts and recreational activities such as boating, golf, hiking, climbing, skiing and much more. Pinpoint navigation and topographic mapping (on the surface only) using both GPS and GLONASS satellite signals. Thanks to built-in Bluetooth, it supports notifications from a paired smartphone. It's also Wi-Fi enabled to connect and automatically send activity uploads, including your dive logs, for review or sharing on Garmin Connect. Store up to 2,000 songs, or access streaming music apps from your compatible services, including Spotify®, Deezer and Amazon Music. What’s more, the Descent design is suitable for wear as your everyday timepiece.
